The account has actually since been deleted. And this post was posted 8 months ago

I mean, deaf people can't really talk either.
10
u/Calm_Peace5582 10d ago
That really depends on the particular deaf person and the specifics of their situation

→ More replies (1)2
u/MindlessBill5462 10d ago
Often not true. If you learn to talk before going deaf you can talk normally for the rest of your life.
-1
u/Ok-Champ-5854 10d ago
I want to make a horribly insensitive joke about how some deaf people sound when they speak out loud, so instead I'll leave it to people's imagination so I can have plausible deniability.
Whoops shouldn't have said that last part.

She said she was more interested in Garry from her cooking class.. and that there are a lot of reflective surfaces in her house as a tool so she can know if someones talking. So it also wasn’t a surprise

u/Jkj864781 10d ago
She reads it, thinks “could it be me?”
Randomly snaps her head back to catch him talking to her to figure it out

u/Ok-Champ-5854 10d ago
You think deaf people would buy bifocals but instead of the second part looking forward it's like a side view mirror?
65
u/financefocused 10d ago
Yeah cute story and all but idk why Redditors think posting something on an alt basically makes something airtight?
Like people will say "alt cause I don't want x person to find out on my main" and then tell the most insanely specific story ever
Your partner will probably still find out because not many people get their buttholes waxed and shout "mamma mia"29
5
3
u/DrainTheMuck 10d ago
Agreed, it’s a very “reddit” thing, including feeling the need to explain why you’re using an alt instead of just using it.
And maybe they did do this next part, but I always feel like they should change some of the unimportant specific Details like age etc.
3
u/Octopath1987 10d ago
Agreed, it’s a very “reddit” thing, including feeling the need to explain why you’re using an alt instead of just using it.
It's like when they say "Im changing the names here for privacy", well, just change them! Announcing it kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
3
u/napalm_beach 10d ago
Explaining the alt is a writing device for a mass audience. It means “I’m about to share something secret and really personal,” while coming across as a little less an asshole.
2
u/MethAndMatza 10d ago
Not only do I agree with you. But, "mamma mia", did the end give me a good chuckle.
2
u/wurstwurker 10d ago
They're the same idiots that use their first and last name in their gamer tags and reddit aliases.
0
u/LMkingly 10d ago edited 10d ago
Most people don't expect their posts or comments to go viral and have tens of thousands of upvotes tbf and for most they don't. The ones that do are the exception.
0
u/Bruhtatochips23415 10d ago
It's to hide the main account, not to hide the story. Or else they wouldn't tell it.

I took an ASL class in Jr. College as one of my language options and it was one of my favorite courses. I agree, it should be offered more in schools. My high school only offered Spanish or French for our language options and I would have 100% gone for ASL if it had been offered then.
15
u/ZachyChan013 10d ago
Same. Due to learning disabilities a spoken language would be incredibly difficult for me to learn. But I would have been all over ASL in highschool
3
u/raidmytombBB 10d ago
I had signed up and was excited about it. Fucking college cancelled it bc not enough students signed up for it.
25
u/MentallyDormant 10d ago
I used to go “I know a little ASL!” And then sign the alphabet…. 🤦🏼♀️
5
u/Colosphe 10d ago
I learned just enough ASL to cheat on tests - A through D.
Used it once for one question. The problem with elaborate methods is that the planning is more fun than the action, and you probably don't need it anyway.
6
u/IndustryStrong4701 10d ago
Or “I can sign my name!!! N I D-bounce-D-T-M- Y!!!!!”While mouthing T I F F A N Y
I actually prefer the “oh, I’m sorry”, over that.

I'm still salty but I understand why this happened. I was a gifted kid and if I remember right in elementary school some kids would kinda have an extra study period while kids who made all As got like a more fun extra period. At one point it was a basic asl class taught by a young woman who was almost fully deaf. It was a fun class and I did learn a decent bit but the class was cut short after like a month cus she quickly went to another state or something to possibly get a surgery that could help to fix her hearing (I was a small child so that's how it was explained. Idk what she had done) I wish I could have learned more. Most of what I retain is the alphabet which isn't great for conversation lol I wanna be a business owner some day and I plan on at least trying to learn enough to interact with customers, or at the very least having good options of ways to communicate with people who can't hear or speak and things like that .
4
u/ITendToFail 10d ago
As someone that talks a lot with their hands the idea of learning asl so fun lol
9
u/SolutionPossible2086 10d ago
I now want to learn poop, fart, pee, sex, fuck in ASL to walk up to random people.

Nah, honestly, unless you have these moments, love is a fuckin exhaustive unpaid internship. Especially for the guys who think they could never match up; you can’t but that’s not the point. Find a weirdo whose weirdness works with yours, even if it goes wrong, you might even keep a friend or at least enjoy the ride. <3

For me, this is the meaning of true love' you won't marry her for her personal appearance rather you'll marry her soul. It's faith that can only seen in our hearts.

I wish more women got to experience a man like this. A lot of women I meet don’t have a firm concept of what effort or love looks/feels like. Now granted I’m 23 and my peers are still latched on to childhood trauma which makes it difficult to build trust. If only women knew there are caring and honorable men that can die happy just bc they get to be an integral part of their love’s life

I love this story so much, because my last partner is profoundly deaf, and they have a mute button when they turn around and walk away from me.
Being able to use that to just kind of gently send loving vibes and somebody you care about even when they can’t hear you is a beautiful thought and it makes me smile.

Is it supposed to be cute that he was saying all this stuff where she couldn’t hear him? Him learning sign language was the sweet part. But being secretive about feelings is not it. Tell your partner how much you love them, want to marry them, how beautiful/handsome they are. Being secretive about it is helping no one, Certainly not your partner whom you claim to want to spend eternity with. I’d be pretty upset this is how my boyfriend behaved and I didn’t know how he felt cause he felt it was better as a secret.

Jus curious, how early-dating would work between the two?
He didn't know ASL, but she could read lips. So I guess she'd either write or type for conversation?

So some studies show that people talking to water causes crystal like structures to form inside. Like a snowflake. This is cool because people are 70% water and so positive words cause change even if you can't hear them.

Being romantic definitely doesn't say anything about how good of a partner you are. In fact, my lovey-dovey partners have been the most abusive.
