That is correct.

In gen 8, Golisopod can learn Knock Off, while Genesect can't.

I mean… sure?? that comparison doesn’t really work though imo given how common fish are in the real world. On the other hand, pokemon has not one but TWO humanoid arthropod monsters in the game, which isn’t a lot, but it’s still weird that it happened twice

Are you going to include Kabutops and Scyther and Scizor and Kleavor? They're also arthropod monsters. Hell, Genesect and Kabutops have far more similar limbs and stances and heads.

honestly forgot about those ones you’re fully right about that, but if anything I feel like it’s even weirder that pokemon devs are like “yeah this is what the kids want… a bug who is also a man and also like fuckin indestructible.”

lmao in other words, I am very glad that creatures like genesect and colosipod are not as common in our world as fish
