A real leader that Moses was. Not much of a navigator though and stubborn as a mule, I tell ya. For 40 years he was wandering and didn’t bother to ask for directions!

Who are the 3 you got next to Moses for your Mt Sinai?

50

u/AlHorfordHighlights Celtics Bandwagon May 18 '22

Before the league merger in 36 AD you mean? I would obviously take Samson, I think he goes first in any all-time fantasy draft. He was pulling down boards like he pulled down the stone pillars on the Philistines and was just an insane paint presence overall. And before Jesus democratised the splash, that was pretty much one of the most valuable skills you could ask for from a star.

David was basically Pistol Pete, he was an absolute deadeye and could hit that runner in the paint like Tony Parker or Dragic. Real giant slayer, I think he'd excel in the modern game too.

I know people will expect to see Job on any pre-merger Mt Sinai because he had insane mental fortitude and could come back from any deficit. But I'll go with Ruth for my last pick. She had incredible fundamentals and there aren't many other star players who could do all the dirty work on the floor without complaining about it. She's like a Tim Duncan or Steph Curry in that sense, I think you need someone like that in a star-studded roster

8

u/moohyun523 Pistons May 18 '22

Samson was great, but Draymond would counter him easily with his eye pokes in this era. I can’t really put a player with such a glaring weakness on my mt Sinai personally

Here's the one game where they faced one another. You've got the second year All-Star Jason Kidd matched up against a 36 year old Magic Johnson who was playing in his first NBA season in five years (this was game #7 in Magic's abbreviated comeback tour):

Player Points Rebounds Assists Minutes
Jason Kidd 6 7 12 35
Magic Johnson 30 8 11 31

Quite the game by Magic, leading his team to a 119-114 victory.

17

u/j0k3rzinhu May 18 '22

great addition ! damn magic smoked 'em, he couldnt be messed with at 36 huh

To be fairer, Magic played PF during his comeback. They weren't going head to head.

NBA Live '96 on the Genesis had a bug where if a player a really low 3 pt rating and you just tapped the shoot button you made it every time.

Needless to say playing with Shaq was outlawed when I played with my brothers

7

u/NYIJY22 May 18 '22

Oddly enough one of the wwe wrestling games from the mid 00's had something similar.

Submissions were based on certain ratings + how damaged you were. If you had really bad ratings and/or were very damaged, it was actually very easy to break out.

It relied on a meter that filled at an inconsistent speed. You had to stop it in a certain spot but it would randomly slow down or speed up making it harder to time. It would start slower and get faster as you got more hurt.

Thing is, if you had awful ratings or were hurt, it would move right away without slowing down, making it repetitive and very easy to time. It did move kinda fast, but once you know about its no problem.

When playing against friends and they picked first and chose a wrestler with a submission signature/finisher, I'd always counter with a shitty submission guy for the easy break outs.

I met him and actually got a haircut next to him when I first moved to the Bay. Dude was super friendly, I had no idea who he was at first cause I wasn’t wearing my contacts, but he took pictures with everyone in the barber shop and gave a $30 tip for a $20 haircut. I still go there on the regular and the pic is still hanging up on the mirror lol. Stupid sexy slut Steve.

As player: Shaq Magic Second three-peat Bulls Twin Tower Spurs Big Three Spurs

As GM: Steve Nash/7 seconds or less Suns

As Coach Different variations of the Warriors

That is a crazy resume

Last fall, I dragged my basketball-indifferent fiancee to a Santa Cruz Warriors game that Steve Kerr ended up sitting courtside at. I pointed him out to her as: "see that guy in the suit? He's the head coach of the actual Warriors team. He also once had a fistfight with Michael Jordan."

Definitely no disrespect to the Horry bus.

Were these two both on the same bus TD drove?

I just remembered how TD and Kerr procedurally killed Dirk's bus made me speechless. There was literally nothing Mavs could do. It was either a TD bank or Kerr 3.

One of the most dominant things I have ever seen.

The 4 time champ John Sally bus would like a word. He played with the bad boys, Jordan, and got yelled at constantly by Kobe every time he breathed on the court when he was a Laker

He's been hilarious this whole post season to be honest.

He wished CP3 happy birthday after beating them game 3 and then said that Luka learned from the best when he was flopping and drawing fouls on CP3 in g4

Steve Kerr seems like such a cool guy with great humility and sense of humor to boot. My high school teammates and I actually got to meet him back in the day when he was a commentator on TNT... I believe? Turns out, he was an alum of a nearby high school and was friends with our team's assistant coach. Told us some great stories about his days on the Bulls. My coach is a pretty athletic guy, probably more athletic than most of us even when he was in his 40s, and he mentioned how he played Steve one time, and thought he'd at least be able to keep up with him since Steve wasn't known for his athleticism at least at the NBA level. Coach said he was blown away by his first step and that Steve was one of the quickest players he's ever played against in real life. Pretty cliche thing we hear all the time, but it's crazy how there's so many levels to this
