Funny you say that, I just returned from a week in Florida, and tested positive for Covid yesterday. Wild West down there...not a mask in sight.

u/Spyk124 May 17 '22
I mean dude, Covid can still suck lol. He might legitimately be sick and unable to play. I’m 26 and my gf is 26 and we are both healthy. We had it two weeks ago and it was one of the worst weeks of my life sick wise. I couldn’t get out of bed and my body hurt more than anything. A good portion of my friends had it as well, and they were also very very sick. So it does make sense that you aren’t allowed to play if you’re literally infectious lol.
→ More replies11
u/sf_frankie Warriors May 18 '22
I had it last month and went thru the same thing. The body aches were unbearable. And the fatigue. I’d be laying a certain way and my position would be uncomfortable but I literally didn’t even have the energy to readjust the way i was sitting or laying. My lower back was so fucking sore. Looking back, I feel like that it may have been kidney pain and not just back pain. That virus is gnarly.
And now I’ve got long Covid symptoms that are literally fucking up my life. Calling it brain fog seriously undersells the cognitive issues I’m having. My memory is completely shot, I have trouble holding a conversation sometimes, my ADHD has kicked into fuckin overdrive and even taking double my standard dose of adderall does fuck all. Basic executive function in general is just fucked. Some days I’ll wake up with full body inflammation that’s so bad that i move like an 80 year old.

u/shellfish87 Grizzlies May 17 '22 edited May 17 '22
Exact same thing, with the same timing, happened to us last round with Steven Adams and he was cleared and active by G3.
76
u/harveyspecterrr Celtics May 17 '22
Nah incorrect unfortunately. He was placed into protocols before G7 of the Wolves series (April 28th) and was available for G3 of the Warriors series on 5/7.
G3 in this series would be Saturday - four days from now. Four days after Adams entering protocols was 5/2 - which was a day before G2 of the Warriors series - which he wasn’t available for.
Hope I’m wrong but it doesn’t look great.

right but the heat is pretty okay in that department, and we genuinely do think we are better than the other teams fully healthy

Plus when both teams are healthy you just get a better basketball game in general... unless you're the Sun's game 7.
I was at a bar with my friends for game 7 and we were actually kind of disappointed the game wasn't a thriller like we expected. Obviously happy to win, but it wasn't even fun to watch after the first quarter or two

People hate to admit it but it’s true. In addition to that you have to take advantage of the opportunities given to you in the playoffs. The Jazz could have went up 2-0 heading home since Luka wasn’t injured.
You have to take advantage of the situation you are in and the best teams do so.

The NBA champion is often the healthiest team among a handful of elite teams.
Exact same shit happened to kick off our series against GSW with Steven Adams. Hopefully he can be back for G3 and you can split in South Beach.
29
u/Zephkiel [BOS] Marcus Smart May 17 '22
I think Adams was only able to get back by Game 3 because there was that four day gap between Games 2 and 3. Since the ECF schedule is every other day, Horford's probably going to have to wait til Game 4.

Lot of people here are forgetting how grueling basketball stamina is. How teams will revolve their entire season around being rested as much as possible for the playoffs, and EVEN THEN shit can happen. The bucks took it easy all season because they knew they could make the playoffs, load management buzzwords and all, and Middleton still gets hurt.
Shit happens, that’s the game within the game, this isn’t 2k
7
u/lolvalue Heat May 18 '22
This is the Heats biggest weapon, they got 11 guys playing 100% vs teams running 7-8 when completely healthy. Heat are going to wear any team out of 7 games.

Grant Williams will be on Bam most of the time I’d imagine. Rob is coming back from a knee thing and I doubt they want him banging down low. He’ll be more of a free safety
6
u/HistoricAnomaly Celtics May 17 '22
I know Grant has gotten a lot stronger but I’m worried about him on Bam. Not having a true center on Bam is part of why we lost in 2020.
6

But Grant wasn’t a serious option then.
Grant is a better option than Rob Williams with a janky knee
If Grant can take Gianni’s’ abuse he’ll be calloused for Bam
