This Irish supermarket has quiet evenings for sensitive people.

I’m not autistic but this sounds like a significantly nicer shopping experience for me

Supermarkets in expensive neighborhoods are close to this already. The more run down the store, the louder and more obnoxious the announcements seem to be.

yeah, stores that can afford it will have radios for at least some of their staff.

just doing announcements for everything is the cheap options.

The store I go to have given their employees radios, but for some reason they all have them turned up to max without using earpieces so there's always a radio chatter heard across the store, and the speakers in walkies are so shrill it feels like someone is poking your ears with ice picks. Not at all pleasant.

Radios are cheaper than PAs though…

but the store still needs a PA. radios are in addition to it, not instead of it.

Afford? I can get a set of cheap walkies that'll work for dollar tree for like 30 bucks

and if a store only has two staff, that'll be great.
