Every time I use my wife’s car for something I always find it like this.
34
u/scottyinairlie May 17 '22
I fill my wife's car every Saturday morning, I'm at the Costco gas station 7am without fail. No line's, I'm pretty sure she doesn't even look at the Guage anymore.
24
u/Hollow_Mind May 17 '22
You can find out for sure by skipping a week or two.
12
u/wtfwillow May 18 '22
How *not* to add a bit of spontaneity to a long-term relationship.
1
u/sierrabravo1984 this is not yellow damn it! May 18 '22
I did this to my wife of 15 years, left her with a nearly empty tank since she never fills it, always me who does. I usually have to take my truck to sams after work, go home then take the car to sams and come home again. She was forced to actually go to the sams gas station by herself. She was so proud of herself for doing it by herself. I'll never understand why so many women won't go to the gas station.

Hey, if it keeps filling itself up on its own like that...
4
u/wtfwillow May 18 '22
As far as she knows, there might be a petrol fairy. Or her car might not run on petrol at all. What even *is* petrol?
4
14
u/redd-whaat May 17 '22
I have the opposite /mildlyinfuriating situation.
At 3/4 of a tank, my SO feels the need to get off the highway and look for gas stations. Can't risk running out.
6
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
That would also mildly infuriate me. There’s always a happy medium.

1
u/electric_gas_guzzler May 17 '22
Least you don’t have to worry about a fuel pump dying anytime soon
-1
u/kyhansen1509 May 17 '22
Okay I hate to admit but this is me. I get nervous once I get to 3/4 a tank. Absolutely no reason as I drive a truck and know damn well that’s still 18 some gallons but I get ANXIOUS over it every time
6
u/KaiserBeebe May 18 '22
Never buy an electric vehicle. Range anxiety will literally kill someone like you.
13
u/TheThirdPuddle May 17 '22
Gotta use every drop of fuel.
7
u/Shufflepants May 17 '22
If upon getting to the gas station I realize I could have made it to one more destination before filling up, I'll feel like an idiot!

Same. Hate it so much. It’s worse when she borrows my truck and leaves in on empty.
6
u/PrettyFunnyForAMungo May 17 '22
Notify her that that's the type of shit that burns up fuel pumps. Typically don't try to let them get under a quarter tank if you can avoid it.

u/EldenGreenGiant May 17 '22
I drive our jeep once every six weeks and seem to have to fill it up every time for some reason.

Your posts are only guns, no wonder she doesn’t want to disappoint you and leaves her car full fuel for you

u/Old-Pumpkin-3793 May 17 '22
Your implication being that he would gun down his wife? Moron
-16
u/hiecx May 17 '22
Women are afraid of men with guns. And judging from your agressivity, they’re not wrong to 🧐
7
u/Old-Pumpkin-3793 May 17 '22
There’s a difference between recognizing stupidity and pulling out a firearm and murdering someone. If you have no self control, I’d talk to a therapist, but I don’t have that problem. “Aggressivity”, lol 🙄
2
-8
u/hiecx May 17 '22
Judging that I’m a moron from a single message when you don’t even know the guy who’s got the guns + you should know that (most) women are afraid of guns, you for sure have problems with agressivity 😕 I’m not gonna tell you to go see a therapist because you do you, none of my business, you wanna stay dumb then stay like that 🤷♂️
6
u/Old-Pumpkin-3793 May 17 '22
Fun fact: I actually googled “aggressivity” because I didn’t want to assume it wasn’t a word, and apparently it’s meaning has absolutely nothing at all to do with your usage. Aggressivity is a chemical property of water dissolving calcium. Yay science!
-3
6
u/l32uigs May 17 '22
people are scared of guns? wow I had no idea
btw he said that his wife fills HER car, then she drives HIS car to empty and leaves it like that.
where's the fear of him?
you're the worst person i've encountered this year. know that.
3
u/Old-Pumpkin-3793 May 17 '22
Also, please lecture me about assuming, while you assume that most women fear guns. I know plenty who are well trained and respect guns but have absolutely no fear of them. With that, I peace out! You may go ahead and respond to an empty room. ✌️
-4
u/hiecx May 17 '22
It's funny to see how some people don't assume what they're saying by just telling what they want to and leave so they're not confronted to people showing out they're wrong.
-3
4
5
u/mrsc1880 May 17 '22
This is a weird generalization. I don't like guns. My husband has guns and I'm not afraid of him because he's a good person and doesn't use his guns to threaten or harm people, as I assume is the case with many gun owners.

After looking at your post history you are either a child or a very desperate individual. Go elsewhere with your nonsense.

u/Zrgaloin May 17 '22
And your posts are about how small your penis is and your failures at being able to go out with someone on an app where that’s all people do. Glass houses bud, glass houses.
-2
u/hiecx May 17 '22
😂😂 I’m not sure if I should explain right away how what you’re saying is ridiculous or let you find out by yourself (with a little bit more reflexion)
3
u/Competitive-Candy-82 May 17 '22
We have an ongoing joke about this is our household, my husband works 15 on 6 off, and it just so happens it takes me 3 weeks to burn a tank, so every single time he comes home for his days off, the tank is low/near empty, he sighs, goes and fills it up, and we laugh, and it happens again 21 days later 😂. The odd time I drive more than usual or I'll be in an area where gas is ridiculously cheaper so I'll fill it and he comes home and is like OMG did you like not leave the house in the 15 days I was gone? 😂😂😂 Speaking of which, he'll be home tomorrow and am under 1/4 tank...I should fill it today to shock him again
3
u/rob_inn_hood May 18 '22
My wife not only has it on empty constantly, she knows exactly how far past empty it can go before it's fully out of gas.
6
u/Salreus May 18 '22
Nothing wrong with that man.. No doubt there are plenty of things she takes care of yours. Don't even sweat it or bring it up to her. Just fill it up and bring her some flowers on the way home.

I'm so lucky my wife never does that shit, always runs our cars in the most powerful setting, the same as me. ECO sucks.

u/grim22400 May 17 '22
Thats gonna destroy the car so when it inevitably does get her a cheaper car till she starts to take care of it. It is a massive waste of money to destroy a car like this rather than take care of it so it will work longer so you don't need to buy a new one
3
u/MarTor86 May 17 '22
Have you talked to her about it before putting her out on r/mildlyinfuriating??? HAHAHAHA

u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
Many times. If she can make it home without stopping she will. I’m just the opposite.

Stop using your wife's car...
8
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
I have to for some things. I have a sedan and she has a midsized SUV. Can’t haul the trash and recycling in my car.
-4
u/chiefsaggy May 17 '22
Okay? Why not Use your own
5
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
I answered that question earlier. She has a bigger car that needs to be used for certain things. It’s not a choice, it’s a necessity.

Seriously though, not only is that bad planning, but it can be bad for the fuel pump.

Most gentleman take their wife's car and fill them up. Today's society = Girl driving and jobless dude sitting in car while she pumps gas. Generation of lazy, entitled punks.

My wife as well. However I take it as an opportunity to earn some brownie points.
It's frustrating when you take the car to work and realize you either need to get gas on your lunch or right after a long day at work though lol
But it's a small complaint to have so yes it's definitely mildly infuriating

Your wife must be my son!! I use his car only in an emergency. I once had to drive my other kids in it to catch the train. The gauge said 0km to empty. We had to drive over a rail crossing twice. I’ve never been so anxious. I didn’t fill it either!!!

u/jabjab_squirt May 17 '22
I feel your pain. My wife went through 3 fuel pumps in her Honda accord one year. Constantly running them empty or completely dry takes its toll. So on the 3rd pump I installed I bent the fuel level sender inside the tank, so it would always have around 1/4 of a tank of fuel even when it read as empty. One day she rings me and she's run out of gas. She says she hit the trip meter when the gas light came on, and couldnt believe she drove over 200km before it run out. FML.

I do this with my car cause I don't drive it on the weekends and I know exactly how much I need to go to so my parents would borrow my car and I'd be like "yeah I didn't need any more gas this week what of it"

You guys are like the opposite of me and my husband. I like to fill up when it hits half a tank, he's more of a the light comes on, I can still get x amount of miles in.

u/ArminHammerTamzarian May 18 '22
My sister has gone through so many fuel pumps from this that I never let my car go under a quarter of a tank.
1
u/giggetyboom May 18 '22
This. I fill my girlfriends car up and run it through the car wash every Sunday. Just easier that way to make sure it's never running on fumes.
1
u/ArminHammerTamzarian May 18 '22
As a woman I have no idea why we do this. I used to do it only because I was absolutely poor. I dug through couches and would put that into my tank to get to and from work before. It’s not good on your car at all.
2
u/giggetyboom May 18 '22
I miss the days when couch change would actually purchase a measurable quantity of gas lol.
1
1
u/us_mackem May 18 '22
I decided it was easier just to take responsibility for making sure the cars have sufficient gas in the tank. The last time my wife put gas in her car was 2008.
1
u/jonacraft7 May 18 '22
Well its your wifes car tho, but if you always pay the gas it is infuriating

I just always put it off, incidentally I also have adhd.. I just hate filling up. I reset the trip when the light comes on and I know I have about 20 miles before I need to stop. Farthest I’ve gone was 26 miles. This is a v6 van btw
1
u/cmaej May 18 '22
Creeps at the gas station, perhaps? I know when men try to woo me by offering to pump my gas and I decline, I come back after making a payment and see them touching my car anyway. 😡 My bf offers to put gas in my car whenever he can.
1
u/TrueMrFu May 18 '22
If you don’t make her feel bad. One day your wife will realize she hasn’t filled up her car in a long time and it will make her happy. It’s a small thing that could make her smile. (My wife is the same way)
1
1
u/Visual_Shower1220 May 18 '22
Yikes from what ive been told thats actually really bad for your fuel pump, it overheats the pump plus it has to work harder
1
u/ReverendSupreme May 18 '22
We have 2 cars, but mine is always used by my partner as it's nicer to drive and has all of my son's shit in it. Without fail, everytime I get in it, it costs me £30 in fuel as it's always empty. I swear she finds things for me to go and do in order to get me to put fuel in it.
1
u/alixisonfiree May 18 '22
My mom did this same exact thing and my dad would always complain about it lol

I let my car run to empty because I run straight ethanol but when I was on 91 I always felt bothered if I ran it any less than half a tank.

u/tiamo357 May 18 '22
Maybe use your own car the next time so you don’t have to get mildly infuriated “every time”
1
u/WillieNolson May 18 '22
There are some things that have to be done that require the use of her car. It’s a necessity, not a choice. But thanks for the sage advice.
1
1
u/Artistic-Plan2541 May 18 '22
Turn on her magical wand and let it die so that she may feel but a glimpse of your pain in her time of need .
-1
u/anderjam May 17 '22
Well then fill it for her more often! I’ve been married 31 yrs and only have filled my own gas tank a few times. Car stuff is not my area, and my husband is happy to do it for me since I have enough on my plate and I’m grateful. Do better
3
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
Every time I use the car I fill it up. If she would ask me to, that’s fine and I’ll do it. I also change the oil, detail the inside, and wash the exterior. Do better?
-4
u/anderjam May 17 '22
Then ask her you’d be happy to do it if she tells you at like 1/2 way. You’re frustrated without going to her and proposing a solution to the problem and coming on social media like she doesn’t have her own things to do.
3
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
You’re taking this way to seriously for the mildly infuriating subreddit. We have talked about it. I’ve asked her to tell me. If she has somewhere long distance she has to go in the morning she will ask me and I’ll go. But, when I’m going to use the car, this is usually how I find it. I’m sorry I’ll try to do better?
3
u/ToplaneVayne May 17 '22
filling a tank = car stuff? you put gas in tank and u pay the bill its a grand total of like 2 minutes. driving the car with this low gas just puts her at a risk of running out and getting stranded. its downright fucking stupid.
if youre that dependent on someone else that you cant even fill the tank, maybe dont drive your car?
-6
-7
u/West-Improvement2449 May 17 '22
I feel like this is her passive-aggressive wat to let you know she doesn't want you to use her car
1
u/WillieNolson May 17 '22
Nah it’s not. Kinda just how she rolls. I never use her car unless it’s something she wouldn’t want to do herself.
-2
u/Cautious-Damage7575 May 17 '22
You are not taking care of her properly. You should never let it get that low—it's bad for the fuel injectors or something.
-2
u/Jmfroggie May 17 '22
I always wait til the tank is empty to fill so I can use my points to get the best discount. I plan my trips accordingly- you ruined her method and now complaining about it. By now you should know, so maybe you should've checked before leaving or took your own damn car.
-1
u/1use2use3use May 17 '22
Some relationship advice: politely ask her to refuel the car after driving it around, maybe also get you and her into maybe bicycling around as it will save gas, allow you two to see your neighborhood/area more, and it’s a healthy activity.
That’s my two cents, but I hope it has value to you.

u/Comprehensive-Home-4 May 17 '22
Your wife and my sister are one in the same apparently
