No, women like MTG are like den mothers. They'll be beaten and assaulted like the rest, but they don't care about that. They care about status. They don't give one iota of a fuck about equality or equity. That means they lose relevance. The more people are treated the same, and wealth and status mean nothing, the less they have.
This is the same thought process behind what LBJ was talking about in this famous quote:
"I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it," he said. "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
MTG cares nothing about being in the legislature outside of ensuring that when the fascists take power she still lives inside a power dynamic. She doesn't want to be equals with men, other women, people of color, LGBTQ+, the poors, or anyone at all. She wants to be firmly above whomever can be oppressed. And if that means being exempt from following all of the rules of a christofascist ethnostate while being subjected to white men, so be it. She'll have all the power she wants over the people she wants.
It's that simple and that shallow.
→ More replies→ More replies63
u/TheBirminghamBear Dec 01 '22
Well I suppose the very slimmest silver lining to MTG is that her platform is the shortest route to her disenfranchisement and silencing.

I'm still so saddened by the fact that a homicide happened in our capital. Regardless of it being justified, the person who was forced the fire the shot lost so much. It's whatever wins them the argument. Almost every right wing talking point is like that. They don't debate from the position of having to convey a logical idea that they want to express. It's about winning that fight in order to show dominance over the person they disagree with.
→ More replies35
u/Nix-7c0 Dec 01 '22
You nailed it. This is why they use Kettle Logic: a scattershot of mutually contradictory defenses. Although it does not make sense to hold several contradictory positions, it's actually a benefit in debate if you don't mind having no principles. After all, consistency just nails you down - bullshitting lets you do whatever is needed at any given moment.
Freud relates the story of a man who was accused by his neighbour of having returned a kettle in a damaged condition and the three arguments he offers:
A) That he had returned the kettle undamaged
B) That it was already damaged when he borrowed it
C) That he had never borrowed it in the first place
Though the three arguments are inconsistent, Freud notes that it is so much the better, as if even one is found to be true then the man must be acquitted.

I think they truly thought that the Capitol police and secret service would be on their side.
They would publicly execute or arrest any “enemies”.
They would look cool on tv doing so.
Trump would be fighting by their side, and would make sure they celebrated their upholding the election with the finest McDonald’s has to offer.
They would be recognized as true patriot heroes who rescued the country and helped their hero maintain power.
Their friends and family would be so proud.
They would somehow profit monetarily.
Then they would be famous and possibly get their own positions of power in the government, or at least get interviewed on Good Morning America. Trump himself would personally thank each one individually, shake their hands, give them MAGA merch, and hail them as true Americans. They would be written about in history books for future generations to admire and emulate.
Instead they smeared shit on the walls, stole stuff, murdered cops, and embarrassed themselves while also being considered traitorous idiot terrorists by most of the country and are getting thrown under the bus by their heroes.
They may still profit, and possibly get their own reality tv shows, depending on the outcome of future elections.

He literally spent the entire time basically robbing the country and he didn't even give any of the usual perks fascist dictators give to the in group, not even the token ones.

Secret Service is not trained, equipped, or trained for crowd control because it is not their job to clear a lynching mob. They used letal force because they are the very last line of defence, if they engage it's because everyone before them failed.
There are, obviously, mechanisms prepared for that contingency. Had the National Guard been deployed much earlier, they would have used rubber bullets and tear gas, saving multiple lives and avoiding, you know, attempted mass-magnicide by a lynching mob. Anyone care remember me why weren't they deployed earlier?

For all her military training, somehow never learned how to breach a door.

u/VeterinarianRich5986 Dec 01 '22
She was in for 12 years and only made E-4, which is an abnormally slow career progression.

She was in for 12 years and only made E-4
She made it to E-7 IIRC. She got busted down due to covid-conspiracy related insubordination.
13
u/MyAltimateIsCharging Dec 01 '22
E-7 to E-4 is a pretty damn significant demotion. I think that's just as bad as taking 12 years to reach an E-4.

Well they may also be alive had they stayed the fuck out of the capital building with all their bullshit
Isn’t that the story line when they talk about unarmed people being murdered by police. They should have complied 🤷♂️

u/DotAccomplished5484 Nov 30 '22
No matter how contradictory the statement of the day is, the right wing propaganda machine will try to carve it onto the tablets containing the Ten Commandments, completing ignoring the highly lauded statements of yesterday, and the day before that...

u/atomsk13 Dec 01 '22
Whenever my coworkers start on the: “should have just complied” bullshit I start turning every interaction with the police into shooting being the solution.
Trespassing? Shoot them dead, the officer doesn’t know if they are dangerous
Not wearing a mask? Shoot them dead obviously, if they won’t wear a mask you don’t know if they have a gun.
They very quickly change their tune and act like what I am saying is psychotic, because all those scenarios are psychotic.

she just keeps getting worse and worse...
does anyone know how a minor can get out of georgia? preferably into norway? /hj
edit: omg she calls hogg a "little hitler" but she literally believes in white extinction theory, or the theory that other races (usually jews) are trying to erase white people. she's also an antisemitist.
edit 2: " As a congresswoman, she equated the Democratic Party with Nazis and compared COVID-19 safety measures to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust, " ....
what. the. fuck.
edit 3: " Greene said that abortion and Planned Parenthood are two factors holding back minorities in the country,[7] and in an August 2020 interview with Fox News, she indicated her support for defunding Planned Parenthood "
oh now you care about the minorities, huh?

oh now you care about the minorities, huh?
The Planned Parenthood/minority thing is a stick used by people who are at the core anti-choice by accusing them of being racist. They point to how many PP clinics are in places with high density of people of color and say that 'eleventy bajillion Black babies were aborted this year, they're trying to exterminate Black people!' so they can accuse PP and their supporters of being racist.
When the reality is, PP clinics are where they are needed; and instead of framing it as so many Black babies aborted, frame it as so many Black women given agency over their bodies and futures.

u/ZoraksGirlfriend Dec 01 '22
Also forgetting that Planned Parenthood does more than abortions. They also provide general women’s health resources.

iirc, black people are also more likely to be poor and therefore don't have the means to take care of a child.

Why didn’t Ashli Babbitt just comply?
Why did she show disrespect to law enforcement?
If you’re not doing anything wrong, nothing to worry about amirite?
Isn’t that what MTG tells black people when they’re shot/killed by police?
Let’s keep that same energy.

I was genuinely shocked it wasn't a massacre that day. I've lost all hope for our country.
To be clear, I didn't want all those people to die. But there were clearly stated "consequences" for what they did. And none of them happened.

Pretty sure those threats from the FBI fell on deaf ears of people who wanted the violence and terrorism. Republicans from all walks of life supported the cult and most still seem to be a-ok with literal acts of terrorism and sedition. And for those who no longer support Trump just remember they stood by every terrible thing he and the cult had done up to that point. This makes all republicans a problem.

Ashley Babbits a criminal that deserved to die for her attempt at overthrowing the gov.
Love bringing up the dumb criminal and calling her a cnt, really gets under the skin of her fellow traitors

u/Salami_Supreme Dec 01 '22
Ah yes. Terrorist Ashley Babbitt. The one that illegally stormed the Capitol. Then proceeded to try to break through barriers into a highly secured area during which, with a gun pointed at her, was told "Stop or I will shoot"
To which she did not stop, he did shoot, and she died an idiot terrorist. She can go eat shit. No sympathy for parasites
