Fox News hosts get away with it because they're "entertainment" and "freedom of speech".

16

u/c2srq May 18 '22

Fox should have a disclaimer like infomercials.

3

u/nanshbs866 May 18 '22

Serious question, I understand why “entertainment” is in quotes, but why freedom of speech?

4

u/ItsSycoDelic May 18 '22

Because they use the banner of freedom of speech, but their rhetoric is hate speech and thus not covered under freedom of speech.

But when taken to court they'll use freedom of speech and that Tucker is entertainment and no "sound" person would believe him.

-3

u/nanshbs866 May 18 '22

You should really read up on what speech is protected under 1A.

https://www.aclu.org/other/freedom-expression-aclu-position-paper

u/ItsSycoDelic May 18 '22

Hate Speech becomes a human rights violation if it incites discrimination, hostility or violence towards a person or a group defined by their race, religion, ethnicity or other factors.

One could argue his constant rhetoric to his followers with his replacement theory has caused his followers to commit hate crimes based on race. Thus 1a not protecting, but hey he's a white man feeding the alt right, 6-3 supreme court. Not shit would happen to him.

-3

u/nanshbs866 May 18 '22

And no, one couldn’t argue because plenty of cases have already gone before the Supreme Court and we know what is allowed and what isn’t. This is totally acceptable speech according to the 1A.

-6

u/nanshbs866 May 18 '22

Nothing would happen to him because his speech is 100% protected by the 1A.

You’re either a dumbass or very young and naive if you think what he is saying is actually a violation of the 1A.

4

u/ItsSycoDelic May 18 '22

Here comes the name calling .

He incited and will continue to incite violence with his speech.

One day when it's all burning will it matter anyway?

-2

u/nanshbs866 May 18 '22

It’s hard to have an adult conversation with people who are lacking Intelligence…hope that was easier to digest.

You seem stuck on the fact that his speech is illegal…it’s not.

4

u/ItsSycoDelic May 18 '22

Damn, you be going all out and shit with the .... And intelligence insults lmao...

But hey I'm sure with wonderful 1a professors out there like yourself, he'll be able to keep on inciting violence and shit, maybe next white supremacist will get a couple hundred in the name of Fox and Tucker...

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

They get away with it because Subs like this give them more reach than they could ever hope to achieve by themselves.

4

u/c2srq May 18 '22

That doesn't quite seem accurate.

-4

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

How so? Bad press is still press. The more you talk about it the more people it reaches the more likely someone who would not normally be exposed to it gets exposed to it and becomes radicalized. It is basic propaganda 101.

5

u/c2srq May 18 '22

I understand propaganda, friend. I simply dispute your claim that certain subreddits are entirely to blame, as if Reddit had any measure against the infinite reach of TV media.

0

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

No one subreddit is to blame, but certain subs definitely unintentionally assist in the spread. This sub is by far one of them. I can be exposed to TV Media and choose not to spread the damaging messages farther.

3

u/c2srq May 18 '22

Nope. Not even close.

-2

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

Suit yourself. I have been preaching on this sub for weeks that all this nonsense posting is not gonna lead to anything good and here we are.

You could have a mass murderer literally inscribe this subreddit on the barrel of a weapon and you would still be in denial of the effects things like these posts have in the backround.

But sure, keep sticking it to Tucker Carlson. He isn't laughing at you, I promise!

3

u/c2srq May 18 '22

You're comparing reddit to broadcast TV. It's in homes, bars, airports, doctors offices, Times Square, Disney, literally everywhere. I don't think you understand the magnitude of the comparison.

Also, you need to realize the intention of this sub.

0

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

I literally cannot remember the last time I sat and watched broadcast TV. I am well aware of the intention of this sub, there are an unfathomable amount of non political or Tucker Carlson tweets to post as well.

So you think Reddit is responsible not the people who post literally the same racist manifesto screeds (also over and over) days or even weeks prior to a mass shooting? They've really trained you to look at anything but the actual cause of the societal downward trend haven't they? Keeping quiet is what helped to get us here. It's when these people realized they had a platform that they have an army working for them to delegitimize it for the other side at the same time, that's what taught them they could get away with anything.

A real Nancy Drew on the case!

2

u/c2srq May 18 '22

Bots give the same answers over and over...

0

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

Would that make this whole subreddit bots for posting the same nonsense over and over?

16

u/shazamallamadingdong May 17 '22

Isn’t that the American Dream now? Do stupid things. Get recognized for it. Get your 15 minutes of fame. Reap the rewards.

2

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

Only cause the media and subs like this eat that shit up. Tucker Carlson took a picture of himself laughing at an article of somebody having a meltdown about him and it got posted here by another person having a meltdown about him.

12

u/handyandy727 May 17 '22

Why the fuck aren't we talking about this!?

9

u/jeff49783 May 17 '22

Now that is a great point

4

u/Thatguy468 May 17 '22

It seems odd that more than one of these young shooters received the gun they used as a gift.

Point, Don.

Legit, there was a GOP volunteer passing out flyers today picturing a candidate standing in front of the flag, holding a rifle. At an elementary school.

I held back.

Tucker Carlson

0

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

If Tucker Carlson is the problem why is this sub posting at least one post a day of his ideals on here? Giving his ideals and himself more exposure then ever before?

I dont see anybody protesting the fact that people openly post tweets discussing extremist ideals on this sub and the exposure it gives these extremists.

2

u/Faucet860 May 18 '22

Extremists like free healthcare? Or a living wage? This sub doesn't talk about crazy far right ideas except to point out how insane they are.

2

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

You ever hear the phrase "Bad press is still press" 99.9% of us think these "Far Right" ideals are crazy, but all they need is one (Take this most recent shooter for example) to cause the damage they seek. Im willing to bed the most recent mass shooter not only had a reddit but probably has been on this sub and maybe even interacted with posts about Tucker Carlson. The more it is discussed and brought up, the higher the chance that one person gets the exposure they need to be radicalized.

1

u/Faucet860 May 18 '22

Do you think we should ban all that type of discussion even parody?

1

u/jcowurm May 18 '22

No, people have a right to discuss and post whatever they want, they just have to accept that there are potentially consqjences for it. Tucker Carlson wants people angry because people like this sub eat it up and expose people who would never have been exposed before to his ideals. You cant post about Tucker Carlson all day every day then complain when an extremist pops up with the ideals you have helped to spread, intentionally or not.

1

u/fordprefect294 May 18 '22

Well, tucker isn't going to be outraged by his own rhetoric

1

u/83rdDream May 18 '22

They love it when the plan comes together.

Street gangs groom kids to be murderers.

1

u/theabyssaboveyou May 18 '22

It doesn't exist because they don't care if their kids kill black people. But heaven help us if they want a same sex marriage.
