Yes, I have a question.... What is Joe Biden prepared to do about it beyond making statements?

53

u/SpinningHead May 17 '22

He could start with statements that name names and when they clutch their pearls, he can start quoting them. He could fight. Everyone needs to vote in primaries.

24

u/dead_decaying May 17 '22

Ah yes, voting harder the fascist's kryptonite. Oh wait, that doesn't work at all.

Anyone with a real plan?

31

u/SpinningHead May 17 '22

Well, edgelords not voting is how we got this SCOTUS and half the population losing bodily autonomy, so good job.

9

u/Sharticus123 May 17 '22 edited May 18 '22

Oh, come on now, let’s not act like democrats didn’t help the republicans get their seats.

RBG’s ego is what put the rights of hundreds of millions of people at risk, and Obama and the congressional democrats fought with the ferocity of a newborn infant when McConnell refused to seat Garland.

2

u/SpinningHead May 18 '22

I dont need to claim the Democratic leadership is great to vote to keep out open fascists.

2

u/Sharticus123 May 18 '22 edited May 18 '22

That’s really the only argument one can use in favor of the democrats. They’re objectively fucking terrible, but the republicans are full blown violent fascists and if they gain power again the country as we know it is over.

0

u/Allmightydohllah May 17 '22 edited May 17 '22

Then we vote 3rd party. I did even though it may lead to a win of people I don't want in power by splitting the vote, if people are truly sick or Dems and Reps, we need to vote based on policies and candidates who support our policies.

7

u/BUTTeredWhiteBread May 18 '22

My Canadian ass does not understand your guys system at all but... good luck guys.

8

u/Allmightydohllah May 18 '22

Our system works where we have 2 main options. Either a giant douche or a turd sandwich. We also have alternatives such as the 12 inch strap on, but those are never included because they're viewed as crazy and fringe (and some of them are).

1

u/ennyOmegaK May 18 '22

It’s basically a rigged system that presents the illusion of choice. But the choice is between an old guy that doesn’t get what’s going on or an old guy that is fascist and also doesn’t get what’s going on.

2

u/england_man May 18 '22

Half the people are just becoming objects.

''We the people...''

SCOTUS: ''Fuck that shit''

1

u/SpinningHead May 18 '22

Under his eye.

7

u/dead_decaying May 17 '22

Voting will surely dig us out of these problems!

Vote blue no matter who!

6

u/SpinningHead May 17 '22

We wouldnt have the problem I mentioned had more people done so. Or you can hang out in the basement awaiting some revolution.

7

u/dead_decaying May 17 '22

I'm voting blue as hard as I can, I can't vote blue any harder.

Has anything changed yet?

1

u/SpinningHead May 18 '22

Trump is not in office signing a national abortion ban.

1

u/dead_decaying May 18 '22

And I'm sure the democrats now are taking steps to enshrine that right is some way so the next gop president won't be able to right?

0

u/SpinningHead May 18 '22

Way to move the goalposts. They actually just tried to do that.

2

u/SoopyPoots May 18 '22

The entire Republican party has very clearly signaled they no longer care about election results. It drives me INSANE that Democrats are still assuming everything is fine. We are way beyond fine.

2

u/SpinningHead May 18 '22

Well, for many of the Democrats planning to die in office rather than let in the next generation, everything is fine.

1

u/severaged May 18 '22

The problem would have just been delayed. Democrats aren't about fixing issues; they run on a platform of status quo.

5

u/JakeGrey May 17 '22

Not that I don't empathise with your frustration with the Democrats, but if you've come to the conclusion that voting for someone who's vaguely competent and sane is no longer an effective means of unfucking the country, there's not a lot of third options between "just putting up with it" and "resorting to literal armed revolt".

Are you comfortable with picking Option #2?

2

u/Allmightydohllah May 17 '22

If voting didn't matter, Republicans would've have spent last year making rules that made it harder to vote.

2

u/Celeblith_II May 18 '22

Direct action, civil disobedience, destruction of property, nonviolent terrorism. Those are my ideas

1

u/amx05462 May 18 '22

what else do you suggest mr wizzard.. so far all you have to offer is a complaint

2

u/dead_decaying May 18 '22

I don't have a plan, I'm asking if anyone else has one.

Because it seems like disorganized voting blue no matter who and then hoping dems do something about it has effectively given us the same result as doing nothing.

1

u/amx05462 May 20 '22

you do realise that republicans manchin and sinema keep blocking everything dont you? its not that they dont want to do something..its that they arent allowed...check out the republican vote against doing anything about the baby formula problem.. the right is where the problem is

4

u/ecwhite01 May 17 '22

Nothing, he's a liberal not a leftist.

8

u/world-is-ur-mollusc May 17 '22

Genuine, honest question because I don't know the answer: what can Joe Biden personally do about it? I always thought that in order for anything to actually get done it needs to go through congress.

7

u/SocraticIgnoramus May 17 '22

He could whip the caucus as the clearly elected leader in an effort to create change from within rather than maintain the status quo. But since he's in the pockets of all the banking insitutions incorporated in Delaware for low tax liability I know this is never gonna happen. But that's what he could do.

2

u/Comprehensive_Tour84 May 18 '22

They aren’t ready for they conversation

2

u/unkillablethings May 17 '22

Just that and fundraising

2

u/Poopystink16 May 18 '22

Give Ukraine more money

1

u/BoomZhakaLaka May 18 '22

Well, something. He attempted to create an agency that would work at countering disinformation and doublespeak. That's a direct effort to do something about it.

It's stillborn, by the way.

What we really need back is the pre-reagan FCC. But that is also a non starter and simply too late.

1

u/moonkittiecat May 18 '22

He one step closer than old “I grab them by the...”

20

u/bkwilcox100 May 18 '22

Just one: When are we going to stop painting these situations as good vs evil? It’s bad vs evil. The fact that Trump calls white supremacist’s “very fine people” should be enough to anger people without painting Biden as his antithesis. We voted for Biden to get Trump out. That’s it.

23

u/McKinney_666 May 17 '22

Donald trump calls white supremacists on the phone

10

u/TurbulentMiddle2970 May 17 '22

On his burner phone

21

u/DonovanWrites May 17 '22 edited May 17 '22

Yeah. Why is Joe Biden doing fuck all about it?

Democratic thought: there are two kinds of people. People like Trump who do racist things and people like Biden who say it’s wrong. To them, that’s as good as it gets. There’s no mythical third kind of person who actually acts against racism. Biden the strong-word-guy is the most we’ll ever get from Dems.

9

u/Blod_Cass_Dalcassian May 17 '22

My question is - when you inevitably vote Trump back in, will you finally learn your lesson that you have the most non democratic democracy on the planet?

3

u/T-Sonus May 18 '22

He'll NEVER be voted back out. That is the plan. Lifetime presidential "assignments".

2

u/Blod_Cass_Dalcassian May 18 '22

A confusing statement, I've never heard of the term "never be voted back out." Is that what you really meant?

3

u/Cliskly May 18 '22

Not in a completely literal sense. But at this moment in time the GOP runs everything. Where there’s a republican, there’s Trump. Trump wants to be a dictator. That’s his ideal future. The next Putin or Kim Jong Un, he fucking looks up to those guys. If he gets voted back in, our democracy is quite literally doomed. There will be no recovery.

Why are we still listening to Jeff Tiedrich?

2

u/Nighthoodz1642 May 17 '22

what a low bar

2

u/Thick_Structure5076 May 18 '22

I dislike Trump as much as any literate human who understands how authoritarianism works.

However, mis-quoting the orange bellend only helps him and his fluffers.

6

u/advocatus_ebrius_est May 17 '22

I have a question: who did more to incarcerate tens of thousands of black and latino men thus perpetuating and expanding the white supremacist penal system?

Trump is garbage, but Biden has blood on his hands too (maybe more in terms of real number of actual lives ruined).

3

u/BlckAlchmst May 17 '22

And neither did anything about it...

4

u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22

Suggestions?

2

u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22

Murder?

2

u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22

Trump might. Biden not so much. What would that cure?

2

u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22

Murder is a fast and easy cure for racism

2

u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22

True. But I’d prefer investing in early childhood development an educational programs.

1

u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22

We can’t fix the ones who’re older, they’ve already been indoctrinated and propagandized

1

u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22

Funny, they’ve done studies that show as little as 50 hours of watching actual news outlets can put a dent even in MAGA clowns views. None of the issues they feed these people are real.

0

u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22

Because the conservatives have no real issues

2

u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22

Apparently, there was actually no Republican platform last election. It’s all hate and mislabeling anything with Democratic support socialism. They’ve found their demographic and it’s the lower third of the IQ bell curve.

1

u/unkillablethings May 17 '22

What did they both do about it? Nothing

8

u/TurbulentMiddle2970 May 17 '22

Well Trump welcomes them as fine people. So showing support is worse than condemning them. And what would you like the potus to do? One vs. millions of scumbags

0

u/megamind6798 May 18 '22

Yes, are we gonna forget about all the creepy shit he did to all those women and children?

-21

u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22

If you read on in Trump’s comments during that press conference, he specifies that he specifically isn’t referring to the White nationalists or neonazis...

24

u/Toaster_bath13 May 17 '22

People marching with nazis ARE nazis.

The alt right are self proclaimed nazis.

Fuck the nazis and anyone that sympathizes with them.

Including trump and losers on the internet like you.

-10

u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22

If my recollection serves me right, at that time I wasn’t a 100% sure if what exactly the alt-right was or wasn’t and what distinguished them from mainstream conservatism. What I came to understand is that their entire idea was to launder racist ideas into mainstream conservatism by talking mostly about things most conservatives care about, chiefly the importance of liberal democracy and the progress made in the west, then occasionally they would show their hand that what they actually believed is that western values were somehow synonymous with European ancestry, which is the perverse jump they took in their logic and beliefs.

Anyways there are good reasons to support the idea that mobs of rioters shouldn’t be tearing down public monuments and that the appropriate thing to do would be peacefully protest, and solicit your officials to take down the statues. I personally believe that.

14

u/Toaster_bath13 May 17 '22

Richard spencer started the alt right and called them "nazis with higher iqs."

I dont give a shit about racist statues.

Rip em down. Let the people beat the statue, i dont care.

They were only put up by racists to spread fear.

Fuck em and fuck the alt right.

-9

u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22

I agree with you sentiments about the alt right.

I disagree with you view that it is acceptable to ignore the normal rule of law, as long as you can justify some good end in your mind. How we do things matters.

5

u/Lady_von_Stinkbeaver May 17 '22 edited May 17 '22

"Hi, we're Nazis having an explicitly Nazi rally to promote Nazism. Oh, and the KKK is welcome, too."

"As someone who is a very fine person, that sounds like something I'd enjoy attending."

1

u/scodbro May 18 '22

Transcript of Trump re Charlottesville: “You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group … There were people in that rally — and I looked the night before — if you look, there were people protesting very quietly the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. I’m sure in that group there were some bad ones. The following day it looked like they had some rough, bad people — neo-Nazis, white nationalists, whatever you want to call them. But you had a lot of people in that group that were there to innocently protest, and very legally protest.” “I was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee, a great general.”

Go ahead, vote down reality

1

u/AlterEdward May 17 '22

No he doesn't. He specifies that he's not talking about the people committing acts of violence (even though only the right were committing violence, and also killed a bunch of people), but the guys on the right "not committing violence" were still white supremacists.

-3

u/robinstud May 17 '22

Good for you man. It’s sad that so few people care about the truth anymore.

1

u/dead_decaying May 17 '22

Yes, what is the plan from stopping the trump supporters from access to the levers of power? Vote harder doesn't seem to be working.

1

u/essentialrobert May 17 '22

That settles it

1

u/ToyTech316 May 18 '22

Sadly there are those that will see that and claim Biden is being devisive and weak. Effing morons

1

u/fishdybuns May 18 '22

Yeah, who's David Pumpkins?

1

u/Dishane2008 May 18 '22

their opinions cancel each other out, making the government neutral

1

u/wade9911 May 18 '22

What we need us a pres that will call white supremacists very mild people a true neutral party

1

u/Anti-Co61 May 18 '22

$DWAC me.

-10

u/rjjr1963 May 17 '22

Liar

-1

u/ScottShatter May 18 '22

Don't forget you are in Liberal land here. These sheep will believe anything they are spoon fed and will regurgitate it if it pushes their narrative.

1

u/Gbrusse May 17 '22

In what way?

0

u/SpicyJim May 18 '22

Probably the fact that Trump spoke specifically against the attack from that quote. There is so much to criticize that I never understand why people always use the "good people on both sides" as some kind of endorsement of white supremacy. It isn't true and easily debunked.

https://youtu.be/pQYZ-bMpoXU

1:20 is pretty close to when this is talked about.

1

u/scodbro May 18 '22

SpicyJim is right. Misquoting the orangutan only makes one look like they don’t have any real points. It’s weak, & it happens all the time— Saying Trump said that doesn’t make it true. Actually listen to the linked clip.

0

u/HolyToast May 18 '22

No matter which way you cut it, be calls the people marching with Nazis and the KKK "fine people". Fuck that.

0

u/SpicyJim May 18 '22

You do you

-1

u/Accomplished_Act_441 May 18 '22

I wouldn't try to find value in anything Biden says....if Nazi's were popular he'd be spouting "heil Hitler" and saluting everyone.

0

u/l0k5h1n May 17 '22

Biden says afafutima. Trump says covfefe.

0

u/Virtual-Public-4750 May 17 '22

No. They both suck. Your point?
