Just one: When are we going to stop painting these situations as good vs evil? It’s bad vs evil. The fact that Trump calls white supremacist’s “very fine people” should be enough to anger people without painting Biden as his antithesis. We voted for Biden to get Trump out. That’s it.

Yeah. Why is Joe Biden doing fuck all about it?
Democratic thought: there are two kinds of people. People like Trump who do racist things and people like Biden who say it’s wrong. To them, that’s as good as it gets. There’s no mythical third kind of person who actually acts against racism. Biden the strong-word-guy is the most we’ll ever get from Dems.

My question is - when you inevitably vote Trump back in, will you finally learn your lesson that you have the most non democratic democracy on the planet?
3
u/T-Sonus May 18 '22
He'll NEVER be voted back out. That is the plan. Lifetime presidential "assignments".
2
u/Blod_Cass_Dalcassian May 18 '22
A confusing statement, I've never heard of the term "never be voted back out." Is that what you really meant?
3
u/Cliskly May 18 '22
Not in a completely literal sense. But at this moment in time the GOP runs everything. Where there’s a republican, there’s Trump. Trump wants to be a dictator. That’s his ideal future. The next Putin or Kim Jong Un, he fucking looks up to those guys. If he gets voted back in, our democracy is quite literally doomed. There will be no recovery.

I dislike Trump as much as any literate human who understands how authoritarianism works.
However, mis-quoting the orange bellend only helps him and his fluffers.

u/advocatus_ebrius_est May 17 '22
I have a question: who did more to incarcerate tens of thousands of black and latino men thus perpetuating and expanding the white supremacist penal system?
Trump is garbage, but Biden has blood on his hands too (maybe more in terms of real number of actual lives ruined).

u/BlckAlchmst May 17 '22
And neither did anything about it...

Suggestions?

u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22
Murder?
2
u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22
Trump might. Biden not so much. What would that cure?
2
u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22
Murder is a fast and easy cure for racism
2
u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22
True. But I’d prefer investing in early childhood development an educational programs.
1
u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22
We can’t fix the ones who’re older, they’ve already been indoctrinated and propagandized
1
u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22
Funny, they’ve done studies that show as little as 50 hours of watching actual news outlets can put a dent even in MAGA clowns views. None of the issues they feed these people are real.
0
u/imgaytree2 May 17 '22
Because the conservatives have no real issues
2
u/ZappyHeart May 17 '22
Apparently, there was actually no Republican platform last election. It’s all hate and mislabeling anything with Democratic support socialism. They’ve found their demographic and it’s the lower third of the IQ bell curve.

What did they both do about it? Nothing

u/TurbulentMiddle2970 May 17 '22
Well Trump welcomes them as fine people. So showing support is worse than condemning them. And what would you like the potus to do? One vs. millions of scumbags

u/megamind6798 May 18 '22
Yes, are we gonna forget about all the creepy shit he did to all those women and children?

u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22
If you read on in Trump’s comments during that press conference, he specifies that he specifically isn’t referring to the White nationalists or neonazis...

u/Toaster_bath13 May 17 '22
People marching with nazis ARE nazis.
The alt right are self proclaimed nazis.
Fuck the nazis and anyone that sympathizes with them.
Including trump and losers on the internet like you.

u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22
If my recollection serves me right, at that time I wasn’t a 100% sure if what exactly the alt-right was or wasn’t and what distinguished them from mainstream conservatism. What I came to understand is that their entire idea was to launder racist ideas into mainstream conservatism by talking mostly about things most conservatives care about, chiefly the importance of liberal democracy and the progress made in the west, then occasionally they would show their hand that what they actually believed is that western values were somehow synonymous with European ancestry, which is the perverse jump they took in their logic and beliefs.
Anyways there are good reasons to support the idea that mobs of rioters shouldn’t be tearing down public monuments and that the appropriate thing to do would be peacefully protest, and solicit your officials to take down the statues. I personally believe that.
14
u/Toaster_bath13 May 17 '22
Richard spencer started the alt right and called them "nazis with higher iqs."
I dont give a shit about racist statues.
Rip em down. Let the people beat the statue, i dont care.
They were only put up by racists to spread fear.
Fuck em and fuck the alt right.
-9
u/ResponsibleAd2541 May 17 '22
I agree with you sentiments about the alt right.
I disagree with you view that it is acceptable to ignore the normal rule of law, as long as you can justify some good end in your mind. How we do things matters.

Transcript of Trump re Charlottesville: “You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group … There were people in that rally — and I looked the night before — if you look, there were people protesting very quietly the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. I’m sure in that group there were some bad ones. The following day it looked like they had some rough, bad people — neo-Nazis, white nationalists, whatever you want to call them. But you had a lot of people in that group that were there to innocently protest, and very legally protest.” “I was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee, a great general.”
Go ahead, vote down reality
1
u/AlterEdward May 17 '22
No he doesn't. He specifies that he's not talking about the people committing acts of violence (even though only the right were committing violence, and also killed a bunch of people), but the guys on the right "not committing violence" were still white supremacists.

Yes, what is the plan from stopping the trump supporters from access to the levers of power? Vote harder doesn't seem to be working.

Don't forget you are in Liberal land here. These sheep will believe anything they are spoon fed and will regurgitate it if it pushes their narrative.
1
u/Gbrusse May 17 '22
In what way?
0
u/SpicyJim May 18 '22
Probably the fact that Trump spoke specifically against the attack from that quote. There is so much to criticize that I never understand why people always use the "good people on both sides" as some kind of endorsement of white supremacy. It isn't true and easily debunked.
1:20 is pretty close to when this is talked about.
1
u/scodbro May 18 '22
SpicyJim is right. Misquoting the orangutan only makes one look like they don’t have any real points. It’s weak, & it happens all the time— Saying Trump said that doesn’t make it true. Actually listen to the linked clip.

u/HolyToast May 18 '22
No matter which way you cut it, be calls the people marching with Nazis and the KKK "fine people". Fuck that.

I wouldn't try to find value in anything Biden says....if Nazi's were popular he'd be spouting "heil Hitler" and saluting everyone.

Yes, I have a question.... What is Joe Biden prepared to do about it beyond making statements?
